Chuck Shaw's NEW Organic Wines (CABERNET SAUVIGNON)
May the 4th be with you!
(And also with you!)
I hope you are all having a wonderful May and have exciting plans for the Star Wars/ Derby/ Cinco de Mayo weekend ahead of us.
If you follow me on social media you may have seen the video review I posted earlier this week on Charles Shaw's new Organic Wines. If you didn't catch it, here's the rundown:
I chose to sample the Cabernet Sauvignon- many of my clients and friends are always asking me for "Cab" recommendations- so I wanted to see how Charles Shaw stacks up.
To be honest, I have not tasted a bottle of "2 buck chuck" since I moved to N.Y.C. in 2007, put a case of it in my suitcase, and wheeled it on the subway out to Bushwick! Memories- ahhh!!
Both the original and the organic Cab are very fruit forward- I found nice notes of strawberry and plum in the original and the organic had a lovely aroma of cassis and sour cherry. Unfortunately I found both wines lacking the body and tannins that I hope to find in a California Cabernet.
That being said, I think this wine would make a lovely Sangria and could be just the thing for someone looking for an easy drinking, light, not too dry red- AND the price is right!
Don't forget to look for this new "Helix" cork that is used on all Charles Shaw Organic bottles!
There is a POP! The bottle is easily resealable! And there is no need to look for the corkscrew that your roommate "borrowed" last weekend!
Look for my review of the Organic Pinot Grigio- coming next week! Thanks to everyone who voted for the next variety.
Until then, have a great weekend everyone!
